About us
The Elk‑Deer‑Bear Habitat Foundation (EDB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of wildlife habitat for elk, deer, and bear. Our work focuses on protecting the landscapes these species depend on while supporting responsible stewardship of public lands used for hunting, camping, and outdoor recreation.
EDB was founded to strengthen on‑the‑ground habitat conservation through collaborative, science‑based efforts. Healthy wildlife populations depend on healthy habitat, and our approach emphasizes practical solutions such as habitat improvement projects, education, and partnerships with conservation agencies, land managers, and like‑minded organizations.
We believe long‑term conservation success is achieved through cooperation. By working alongside state wildlife agencies, conservation partners, and local communities, EDB aims to contribute meaningful support to existing efforts while helping cultivate a culture of stewardship and respect for public lands.
As a growing organization, our priorities include building strong partnerships, engaging volunteers, and supporting projects that improve habitat quality and ecological resilience for current and future generations.
Mission
The mission of the Elk‑Deer‑Bear Habitat Foundation is to strengthen wildlife habitat and working‑land resilience by helping private landowners collaboratively access conservation resources, coordinate stewardship efforts, and maintain landscapes that support wildlife, agriculture, and outdoor recreation.
Many conservation programs are designed for large, single‑owner properties, leaving smaller landowners without access. EDB helps bridge that gap by coordinating voluntary landowner groups and supporting shared participation in habitat and stewardship programs.
Problems We Solve
Many conservation programs are designed for large, single‑owner tracts. Small and mid‑size landowners—often with adjacent or nearby parcels—can’t meet acreage thresholds, lack administrative capacity, or don’t know where to start. The result is fragmented habitat, under‑utilized incentives, and preventable loss of wildlife and working‑land values.
EDB's Role
EDB is a neutral coordinator and force multiplier—not a land broker, regulator, or advocacy group. We:
Aggregate willing landowners so their combined acreage qualifies for habitat programs.
Navigate paperwork, timelines, maps, and compliance to make participation easy.
Coordinate shared stewardship (plans, schedules, materials) across property lines.
Connect landowners with agencies, NRCS, and State Wildlife programs, and reputable contractors.
Measure habitat outcomes and share practical lessons with partners.
Our Work
We are coordinating projects as we speak. We will be working on getting the lakes around Oklahoma ready for the summer season. We will be looking for volunteers to be ready for the spring storm and fire seasons, which are right around the corner. We will also need volunteers for the summer season to help keep the lakes and public use lands clean and safe for all who visit.
